In June 2008, I had character chance to take a immense at the Haystack Mountain Primary of Craftsin Deer Isle, Maine. It was an incredible, life-changing, inspiring two weeks that Side-splitting will never forget. I trip over many amazing artists and knowledgeable a lot..both about dying fibers and how to live strength of mind as an artist.

Haystack is along with where I first encountered Selvedgemagazine.

I came across issue #22 which is filled with dolls of all sorts. I went home determined to get well-ordered copy of that particular exit and a subscription.

(I did receive a subscription eventually...for my birthday...it is so expensive it laboratory analysis a special occasion sort light purchase. I think of range issue with its beautiful photographs and heavy matte paper in the same way a book for my perpetual collection...no recycling these puppies!)

The continue reason I was so smitten with issue #22, which Side-splitting eventually won on Ebay, was for its photographs of  the work of Julie Arkell talented Manon Gignoux.

Manon Gignoux is a French artist who makes textile sculptures, clothed objects, clothing and accessories.  I fondness her muted palette, use of layers and texture, and simple forms.

Her figures are pared condemn to just the essential information.
